Healthy Food for Dummies: Avocado Bagel with a Kick!!

Happy 2018 beauty bugs!

One of my biggest resolutions for this new year includes getting healthy, but it’s super hard when I barely have enough time to rest my eyes as I’m starting my last semester of college in a couple weeks. I’m also not the most skilled chef that ever lived, but I’m working towards getting better. I want to share my health journey along the way, and I figured I’d kick it off with one of my favorite, fool-proof, inexpensive and QUICK ‘recipes.’


// Shopping List \\

  • Favorite bagels (This is an everything bagel, but a whole wheat or multigrain is  even better!)
  • Avocado
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Black Pepper
  • (Optional) Shredded Parmesan Cheese

// How To \\

There’s not much to explain here, but I’ll make it quick. I pop my bagel in the toaster and while it’s toasting, I took my ripe avocado and began to scoop it out. For today, I used a whole avocado because I skipped breakfast and was STARVING after I volunteered at the shelter, but on days you’re not super hungry, half an avocado will do just fine. (Pro Tip: Store half of an avocado in the fridge coated with lemon juice! It will keep it from browning.) I spread my avocado on my toasted bagel and topped it off with black pepper and red pepper flakes! Red pepper flakes add the right amount of spiciness to lend for a
whole lotta flavor. I didn’t

EJOH3915have any shredded parmesan cheese today, but I also love to top off my avo bagels with a sprinkle of some good ole dairy.

This recipe is super simple but one of my absolute favorite lunches! I hope to share more easy and quick healthy recipes for those of us always on the go this year. Keep an eye out for my next blog post coming Thursday.
